Titus my friend,
This week has seen the world record in global mean temperature. It's weird as I write it down. At home there was a neat 36-feels-like-43 Celsius, (that's 95 Fahrenheit). Which considering what you might have had is pretty ok. How has your house been behaving? Is the insulation holding up? Are you ready for the next heatwave?
I've been putting mosquito nets up and opening the window as soon as it start cooling off, with intricate plans of pressure building to move the air around. But what I'm not getting is enough mass to hold this coolness. The big stone walls of this house, you see, are insulated on the inside, which is basically like putting the hot water bottle on the outside of the bed. Confused? Well, that is exactly how my neighbor was when I told this to her. She has the same issue. So does the other neighbor.
Anyway, the overheating is happening everywhere, and everyone who knows what I do asks me how to solve it.
So, my dear friend, I think I know how I can help. I've set up a very short survey for you.
It asks you about your house, your region, your particular flavor of overheating.
We must move fast, for summer is already well under way. If you're in, lets gather our forces and help each other to face this. Lets learn and strategize. I'd be sharing all I know directly with you. And you'd be exploring the details of this intricate and alive web of connections that is your house. We'd diagnose and then plan, we'd share ideas and victories, we'd brag about our new indoor temps... and cute pictures of summer dogs, of course.
Most of all, we'd get through this 2023 summer together. I'd make you do homework, read thermometers, listen to the evening breeze, take photos of your house, draft plans and list features. We'd do breakout rooms as well as presentations, Q&As as well as interviews. We'd have fun! And we'd be way cooooler by the end of it. I'll try to keep puns to a minimum.
We're in this together.

Love,
Jo
