What is Jo’s Epistolary?

I send a letter to an imaginary friend with a silly name and they sometimes write back. They have different personalities so I write to each differently too.

Who am I?

I'm an architect, illustrator and climate communicator. My thing is our relationship with nature through the building we make for ourselves.

How often?

I send a letter every other Friday.

Why this epistolary style?

I find that, though exhausting (I’m not a writer, I draw pretty houses), the writing down and defining of ones ideas is the only thing that makes them real. They gather shape and a life of their own.

But writing to whom? Well, to Galosh. Or Galouska. Or Sillinum Uneibard.

I’m a product of my days. Between existential dread, climate anxiety and real tangible chaos, I fiddle with intellectualities (not a word?) and put my brain towards shipping creative work.

Who are you?

As my imaginary reader, you can be whomever you fancy.

About the drawings

All mine, unless otherwise stated.

What is Listen to your Land?

Listen to your Land is a book about your very first steps in designing your own home. All in all, it’s mostly about choosing the right spot to build your future house. It’s not long (about 35 pages) and it’s free, because I believe I get my money’s worth if more people know the basics of what makes a good home. There’s also a Checklist for when you visit your future building site, which you can download directly here.

Onto architecture

Here comes my pitch. If you find some of this makes sense, please check out my website, about bioclimatism and biophilia in architecture. I coach, train and consult.

Mostly, I’m very good at giving unrequited advice.

It’s called Permarchitecture. Get advice and even work together with me on your vision via screen-sharing, so you can define your ideas. I focus on the magic of the residential space, the poetry of the home and on the relationship our homes have with their surroundings, but you set the tone.
